Texas Pregnancy Care Network Earns Seal of Excellence® First Nonprofit in Texas to Meet All 55 Performance Standards June 25, 2009, Austin, Texas - Texas Pregnancy Care Network (TPCN) has earned the prestigious Seal of Excellence®, in recognition for meeting the highest standards of ethics and accountability in its nonprofit governance, management, and operations. TPCN is the first nonprofit organization in Texas to earn the Seal of Excellence distinction. A national peer review team of nonprofit experts evaluated TPCN for compliance with 55 standards comprising the Standards for Excellence: An Ethics and Accountability Code for the Nonprofit Sector, designed by the Standards for Excellence Institute®. Based in Maryland, the Institute is a national initiative that promotes the highest standards of ethics and accountability in nonprofit governance, management, operations, and facilities—and adherence to those standards by all nonprofits. TPCN’s Executive Director, Vincent Friedewald, Esq., commented, “While we’ve always believed internally in our high standards, it is especially gratifying to have that belief affirmed by an independent, third party expert like the Standards for Excellence Institute. We are honored by this recognition, as we work very hard to earn the public’s trust.” According to Darryl A. Jones, Sr., Chief Executive Officer of the Standards for Excellence Institute®, "Organizations that successfully complete the Standards for Excellence® certification program exemplify openness, accountability and a commitment to excellence. The Institute encourages nonprofits to participate in the voluntary certification program because the standards can help build their capacity, which enables them to serve their communities more effectively."
